Washa Washa Washington
As you can probably see from my abundance of pictures just from one ride, Washington is my new favorite state! These are from the ride to Wenatchee, WA, all the up in the northwestern corner...ish. I have seen few places more beautiful than Washington. The hills of perfectly snow-capped trees in perfect shape go on for ever and as tall as the eye can see. It is one of the most breathtaking drives I've ever experienced. Spokane was a great town filled with a wonderful blend of quaint coffee shops, book stores, restaurants, and shopping. I especially enjoyed the fresh air and hipsters.
We then left Spokane to travel to Wenatchee (which I learned was actually pronounced winAAAAAchee, like I'm from Midwest) which was another wonderful town. Upon arrival I dropped my things and ran out after company meeting to explore the tiny town. I found a little soda fountain and got an authentic (who knew!) New York chocolate egg cream.
It might have been the most delicious thing ever. This was a two show day or a one-day sit down as we like to call it, so I deserved it. After our first show we only had about an hour off so a local Italian restaurant catered a delicious meal of pastas, salad, crack-laced garlic bread, cheesecake and a giant yetti hanging from the ceiling. I wish I was kidding about the crack-laced garlic bread, but it was unreal and addicting.
And here's a pic of Wenatchee's theatre, it was a great space with a lovely audience!
And after dinner between shows a few of us went to get coffee and found an awesome little coffee bar with a live jazz band, they were kickin' it!
After our awesome one-day sit down we traveled to another great city in Warshington, Bellingham! It was my new favorite because it had a chocolate shop that I probably would have died for and great coffee shops as well. I mean, I knew Seattle's Best existed but really all of Washington is obsessed with coffee.
That sign above is from the elevator in our hotel. I mean we knew it was a chill city but describing it as "subdued excitement" only seems to inhibit the level of visitation to me. It was an odd hotel because it was built around the pool and hot tub inside so the main building smelled like chlorine and closed at 10. It is cruel to walk past a closed hot tub after a show, and it happens often!
That snowy picture is one of the only ones that came out from the drive to Bellingham. It was supposed to be a 3 or 4 hour trip that turned into a 7 hour one because of that little snow-tacular. It was incredibly beautiful but really, we could have done without the 5-mph leg of the journey. When we got to the theatre it was all worth it though, the chandelier reminded me of the one in Beauty and the Beast and that's enough to make any girl happy.
After Bellingham was Longview, WA. The drive was meh but the town (once again Washington!) was adorable.
AND we got a drive-by of Seattle on the way!
That of course is the one and only space needle, and the pic above is the stadiums in Seattle for the Mariners and whatever the other team is. Aren't you proud of me?! I am marrying a sporty man after all. :-)
And once again the theatre was gorgeous!
I found that old pic of it online, cool huh? Theatre's been around forever!
That's it for Washington, I'll post the first Montana pics later. Talk to you soon!
