T-Minus 1 Week!

You must already know this if you're reading but I'm going on a National Tour of Damn Yankees this winter/spring! This blog is in an effort to primarily make sure that I keep up my literacy skills on the road but also to allow those near and dear to me to keep track of my adventure. For the past few weeks we've been rehearsing in Manhattan, in a room far too small for the big talent and good humor in this cast. Tomorrow morning we head to New Jersey to begin teching the show. Now that's probably not really a word, "teching", but it basically means we'll have a practice space to work on the show with costumes, sets, lights, music, microphones, makeup, wigs, and patience. Once we finish tech in NJ we'll head out to our first venue in New York. At some point I'll add a post with all of the cities we'll be tearing through.

Its hard to write about this job without humming "Its a Small World" because the audition process for this show certainly taught me that. The casting director for this show was an intern with one of my good friends and directing genius, Dave, at Playhouse on the Square. Upon entering the audition room I was immediately comfortable once I learned that fact, something about kindred intern spirits...it puts me at ease.

So fast forward from my Playhouse-induced courage to the present...I'm writing this blog as I pack up my life into two suitcases and get ready for the unknown. Jersey.

I'll report live from our first tech rehearsal tomorrow!

Love,
Your Damn Yankee
