SPOILER ALERT: Personal and Uncomfortable

Today is bittersweet. Randy was supposed to leave last Tuesday, but he missed his flight and flew out today instead. So we got up at 4 to get him to the airport by 6:30am. As I said goodbye to him I realized that I come to hate perfectly normal, unassuming stairways, train stations, etc. simply based on the fact that we part ways there. There's something to be said for the psychological attachment we have to locations. I love the places I get him and hate the places I leave him. Selfish? Perhaps.

After that I finished packing up stuff and cleaning the room I am subletting, as the girl who owns it comes back tonight. Then I made perhaps the most harrowing trip from Queens into Manhattan that a girl has ever made. Picture this. I've got my shiny silver backpack, a laptop bag, a plastic shopping bag, my makeup case, a pillowcase filled with dirty sheets, and a black shoulder bag overflowing with tupperware, my water flosser and clothes. Combined with my puffy jacket and cloche hat I was homelessness glorified. I figure I could've lived for at least 4 hours with the contents of my cargo. At my lowest point I couldn't make it out of the subway because the Service Exit wouldn't open so I had to shove my person and bags through the turnstile like a circle block through the triangle hole.

As for tech today? I had a wig fitting during which I discovered that I've been doing pincurls the hard way for years. That felt great. It is my first experience wearing a lace-front wig, so I'm excited to wear more money on my head than I make in a year. Since then I've been sitting in my dressing room which I share with 3 lovely ladies, and thinking about the show. After talking to some other people in the cast we've pretty much come to the conclusion that being on the road will be the most consistent living arrangement we've experienced in a while. Ah the nomadic life of an actor. :-)

More tomorrow, for now, adieu!

XOXOX

  1. Those good-byes are horrible. Sorry, babe. But at least you have all kinds of new and grand adventures to distract you until the next time you get to see him! I can't tell you how excited I am that your nomadic lifestyle is bringing you here! Looking forward to seeing you!
